Glad I could help. Couple of months ago I hit a piece of shoring lumber at
60 mph. I impact was so hard that it caused my interior mirror to drop.
Tire did not go flat, so I drove another 40 miles to get home. When I
looked at the tire I was amazed that there was 2"x2" section of rim missing
(down to the bead seat). There was another section that was bent pretty
bad. Of course it felt as if the tire was way out of balance (gee, I wonder
why). I have driven another 10K since the mishap and the tire is still good
(the rim is long gone, had to replace it). No one, including the tire
people where I purchased the tires, can believe how well the tire faired.

After recommendations from Earl (BlakDak) I went with Michelin CrossTerrain
SUV's on my R/T rims (275/55/17). The day after I bought them I was late and
had to drive about an hour east in heavy rain that in some areas was turning
to snow. I thought the Michelins were absolutely the best tire I'd ever
driven, and haven't changed my mind yet.
I'm happy with the Michelin Artic Alpin's I run in the winter. Not as happy
as I am with the SUV's. I may buy a set of the CrossTerrain in 235/75/15 for
the winter this year.
Both tires are far better than the Goodyears in the rain. The OE tires just
plain scared me in the wet.
