George,
Just for grins check the backside of the engine block behind the intake,
unless you know for sure it is tranny fluid you are loosing.

If you're hearing a whine, sounds like the tranny is beginning to go south.
I took extremely good care of my first two trannies, and they both went bad
with around 26Kmi on them.

I've decided when my current (fourth) one goes (and I know it will), I'll be
calling Keisler Engineering or someone similar. I WILL NOT put another New
Venture piece of garbage back in my Dakota.

Rich, I may have jumped the gun on this. I appear
to have much more serious problems with the tranny
than I first thought. I'm not sure whats going on yet
because the tranny is operating fine. Its does have
a serious leak and I'm smelling burnt oil. Maybe oil
in the clutch or front housing area. No grabbing yet,
but I'm starting to hear a new unfamiliar whine.

Not good!

George,
Let me know if you notice any difference in shift smoothness. As soon as I
find someplace to order the Redline MT90, I'm going to try running it
straight.

Apparently the leak was comming from my transmission vent
at the top of the NV-3500. I seriously believe now that straight
100% Redline MTL is to thin a lubricant, especially for the
summer time temps. It may have been part of the reason why
it blew out of the vent (and me overfilling it a little). I replaced
it with Royal Purple 75W90 and 10W40. We'll see how that
works out or blows out. ;)

George

P.S. tranny fluid is just touching fill plug level.
