It helps keep rust from forming around the tops and sides of the
piston heads and rings. Moisture accumulates inside the motor
from condensation. The oil into the spark plug holes is a common
preventative measure used when storing motors (e.g. cars,
snowblowers, etc.) over a long period of time.
