Yup,there were 383's and there were raised-block 383's.Believe the
raised-blocks had the 3.75" stroke of the 413,440,and Hemi..If that
Newport is a 2-dr. I could definitely believe it had 3-spd on the
floor.Right by the distributor there might be a raised up 2"x2" flat pad
with engine size stamped on it..If not it's probably a 'low-block' 383
or possible a 361?.The raised flat pad was only on the big engines.Jeff
