It cant just be one thing when something goes wrong. I fried some sort of ignition wire in the steering column but that aint all. I had originally pulled over because the truck was running rough, so I did a compression check and the #5 cylinder is dead. I will do a leakdown test tomorrow to see if its a valve or a piston issue. Regardless it made up my mind to do the stroker motor early. I called Hughes engines up and ordered the stage 2 RT heads (with spring kit) and the 390 stroker kit for the 318. Also got a new timing set while I was at it. Dave said the stuff should arrive in 2 parts, the kit and timing set will ship this week, and the heads will go out next week. I'll be taking the block to the machine shop this sat., they said they could have it bored and prepped for chromoly in a few days. I figure I'll have to wait til spring on the tranny and rear end (which I'll probably snap in the meantime, but I already have the 17x9 R/T rims so I can get some meaty rubber to put on them. I'm hoping to have ev
erything done in a matter of 3 weeks. I'll keep everyone posted on the status. If I really get motivated I'll document the project with the digital camera.
