Maybe we could all post pictures somewhere....

That would be interesting to see the difference on FRAM versus Mobile 1 or
K&N.

Exactly..
BTW I just bought a couple of those fram filters with that rough crap on
the end, just to see how they work. I'll probably tear one open after I use
it just to see how it compares to the mobil 1.. After reading Rascal's
post, I think I am going to switch to K&N (but I have to figure out where to
get them..) What is the K&N part # for a 99 5.2?

With the HEX HEAD, I do use a wench to remove the oil filter vice a
slip-grip oil canister wench.

I didn't know that - Why don't they put the hex head on the mobile 1
filters, then... THATS why I want it..

Barry, Mobile 1 and K&N are the same filter.

However, I do not recommend in using Mobile 1 Syntec in low tolerance manual
trannies.

What I heard was that adding ATF to engine oil essentially replaces some of
those components that normally break down first. Detergents and such
(forgive me, I am not a chemist) I tried this in an old jeep, and it did
work..it broke free enough crud to clog my oil pump and fill up my oil
filter with sludge... Personally, I just stick to Mobil 1 every 5k with
mobil 1 filters...

I know it's an ol' secret to add some ATF just prior to changing the oil
to help celan out the engine. Let me ask the following:

1) Does this really work?
2) How much ATF do you add?
3) How long do you run the engine for and at what speed?

Thanks
william
