I know in CA, the diesel being sold at the local ARCO has change the diesel
formula to the new formulate version that suppose to run cleaner before the
next mandate.

Shoot - the noise and smoke is half of the fun! ;-) You don't often
find people buying V8s and trying to make them sound like 4 bangers -
likewise, if I buy a diesel, I want it to *sound* like a diesel! :-)
(Yes, its irrational, but its my money so I get to decide where and why
I spend it.) ;-)
