Actually all it is is a Hyped up truck. yeah it obviously has a different
motor and tranny ( which dodge already had for a while)
and better brakes, suspension and things of that nature but for 40K I would
expect it). Obviously if youre gonna charge 40K ( not likely) for a truck
it should have better parts than the garden variety Dodge Ram. I can bet
you that you WILL NOT see the STR for 40K ( unless you know the dealer
really really well and even then i doubt it). The sticker price may be 40K
but there is no way the dealer will sell it for sticker. you know they will
add their mark up. I bet that thing wont be driven out under 50K. And do
you really think ford is sitting there doing nothing? for all you know they
are reworking a V10 to compete.
I personally dont like the new rams but they will grow on me.. I like the
lightning though. and even with all that HP there will be traction
problems for the SRT.
Im nto trying to start anything but look at the Vw bug when it came out or
the PT cruiser. dealers were charging 4-7K over sticker if not more and the
people were paying it jsut to be the first on the block to get one. Now you
can get them for a steal heck they have rebates on them, and the SRT is
supposed to be a production truck not a specialty from what I read.
Again all they did was took a Ram truck threw a big motor in it the tranny
to handle the Hp and the radiator threw some suspension mods beefed the
frame and rims and tires and gussied up the exterior. Thats what
manufacturers have been doing since god was a mechanic. Im not bashing
dodge. I think the SRT is a cool truck, but perosnally I wouldnt pay that
kind of $$ for it. Thats jsut me. Im sure there are guys lined up beating
the dealers door to put a down payment on one. thats cool too.
heck trucks are becoming liek the 90s sports cars ( 300Zx, 3000GT Supra
Rx7) they are pricing themselves out of peoples reach. I jsut hope the car
makers dotn get too greedy ( which they will)
This is jsut my opinion
