Hey, R/T Killer!

<snip> I was told that it wouldn't be safe for that to be
used<snip>

Who told you THAT? When I was a machinist in a past life, making cannons &
breech mechanisms for the U.S. Armed Forces, we routinely used Helicoils for
thread repair. Believe me 120mm Tank Gun or a 155mm Howitzer undergoes a lot
more stress on the recoil stroke than a Dak spindle. We NEVER had a thread
failure due to a helicoil.
Helicoils are extremely safe!
