Hey everyone, hope you are all doing well. Just wanted to take a minute
and say thanks to the DML and to Speedtweaks for the Flowmaster
recommendations. On Monday I purchased a '50' series Flowmaster #52555 (one
recommended by Speedtweaks list) and had it installed on Tuesday. I had it
welded in at one of our local shops, I chose that route because it usually
means less leaks, plus he could fit in the short extension I needed and he
also welded all the factory hangers back onto the muffler [the pipe sizing
was perfect]. All I can say is WOW! It makes an excellent sound with the V6,
I can just imagine how good it would sound with a V8. The original muffler
was rusting out anyway(good excuse-only 24kmiles), so it had a little purr
at idle, but was quiet after that. The flowmaster has a more noticeable purr
at idle, you definitely know when you start her up, and you can really tell
when you nail the throttle!! My wife was following me after I had it
installed and I had let the Dak shift all the way up then I nailed it so she
went into low and took off, her reaction later was WOW!, sounds really mean
and now she is jealous and wants her Taurus to sound that way! The Dak seems
to have some more seat of the pants feel power and definitely sounds that
way, and it sure has affected my gas mileage! Seems to have dropped for some
reason, maybe because I can't keep my foot out of the throttle!!! Oh well,
the price you pay!! Thanks Again.
