According to the latest Hot Rod magazine, the 2003 Silverado SS will
be available in early 2003 for $23,000. 6.0L, 10.5:1, .544" cam with
208 degrees at .050, K&N and modified airbox, headers, and true duals.
5 link rear suspension, T-56 tranny with a performance shifter (6 speed,
manual) The tires are 295/55 20s and the gears are 3.73s. I don't
particularly care for the 20" rims, but the fat rubber is a nice touch.
Its got a cloth bench seat, rubber flooring, etc. I don't particularly
care for Chevy but this is an interesting development and flies in the
face of the expensive "supertrucks" from Ford and DC. Kind of a "back
to your roots" muscle car era vibe, built from the existing parts bins as
inexpensively as possible.
There isn't any info about performance or HP, but it shouldn't
be too much of a slouch - especially when you consider the price.
I'm not sure where you got the $39K number, but Hot rod says it
will sell for $23K.
