I checked with the MML also and got a couple of responses
that basically said all vehicles since 1968 should have the
VIN (well, part of the vin, usually the last several digits)
in several locations on the car, to prevent theft, including
the engine and transmission. Apparently it is usually on the
side of the engine block, above the oil pan. So its probably
there, I'll just have to search for it. :-)
