Re: How long did your's last?

MSD 6A is at 40k perfect miles on my old 318. MSD 6A on the '91 Ramcharger
well over 70K miles, never a glitch. Another MSD 6A at 50k and still going
on my brother's Volvo.

My friend however has a MSD 6-OffRoad on his Toy that he's replaced twice
under warranty in three years. He had a bad diode in his alt., likely for
most of the three years, that was feeding AC into the system. He also
had/has low voltage issues with bad connections, a cheapo voltage
regulator, and undersized wiring throughout (some factory from Toyota, some
botched-up since). He is of the opinion that as long as it runs, he aint
gonna fix it...but he doesn't seem to get very good mileage out of his MSD
boxes.

We just put an MSD 5 in our boat ('78 Merc. 140hp I-4), it's been great all
season, but that's only a few hundred hours thus far.

I'd sure double and triple check your connections (I like solder here, it's
a pretty sure shot) before ruling out the MSD box.

It does seem that with the MSD units, the basic cap and rotor sets don't
last as long...maybe that's just an illusion.

Just my $.02 worth of opinion...
