Nick, I am going to type this word for word from my 1998 FSM. Hopefully it
is like your newer one...

1) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable
2) Remove the cowl plenum cover/grille panel from the cowl top. See Vacuum
Reservoir in the Removal and Installation section of this group for the
procedures. (I know that is not much help, sorry).
3) Reach through the cowl plenum access hole to remove the two hex screws
that secure the blower motor resistor to the cowl plenum panel.
4) Pull the blower motor resistor and its wire harness out of the plenum
panel and through the cowl plenum access hole far enough to access the wire
harness connector.
5) Unplug the blower motor resistor from the wire harness connector.
6) Remove the blower motor resistor from the cowl plenum

In the drawing that is in the FSM, they are looking into the engine bay, at
the firewall. The cowl plenum access hole is just to the left of the right
wiper pivot.

I hope this helps a little.

Rascal

Subject: DML: Cold, and no heater fan

About a month ago, all of the speeds except for high died on my AC/Heat
fan. I did some research on the archives, and found that it was more then
likely the infamous resistor pack. About the size of a credit card, w/ 4-5
wires going into it. Located on the firewall, passenger side, with 2
screws attaching it.

That's cool, but I can't find the dang thing for the life of me. I've
looked all over, but I can't find it. I'm probably looking right past it,
but I can't find it.

Today, I lost High. It's 5 degrees out today, and I want heat..<G> Could
someone give me a hint as to what I'm missing. I just spend 10 minutes out
there in the cold, and you can look for so long before you start to doubt
your sanity. Could someone give me a hint, or even a picture, as to what
I'm looking for, and where it is?

Thanks
