If I recall correctly,

one major difference between the 4.7 and the 5.7 is....

Like the Hemi, the 5.7 is a PUSHROD BABY! The 4.7
is not. Another major difference is 2 sparkplugs per
cylinder. I thought this was a unique design until my
brother showed me his little 4 cylinder rustang with
8 plugs.

no its not based on the 426... i was reading that article, and they stated
that there is nothing based on the 426. other than a couple of identicle
(HEMI proprietary things) parts, there is nothing common between the two
(except the "heritage"). this is a totally new engine, which features less
extreme angles in the combustion chambers (screaming for an R/T head and
piston change). its about half the angle of the 426. re-read the article.

I'll se if I can find it. The reason I was thinking this was because of
how the older magnum engines were, far cheaper in the materials dept. as
in being able to share a platform, and by the one cutaway I saw and
compared to the one I have from a far older article on the 4.7 where the
two looked nearly the same. BTW, it's interesting about being based on a
426 Hemi. I've seen several of those and have helped rebuild one once
and form the cutaway of the new Hemi there was absolutely no
resemblance.

The Hemi block and the 4.7 are not the same. The design was based on the
426
Hemi. Check out the November issue of Hot Rod magazine.
