2 Billion for a B-2 Bomber, 3 Billion for a Nuclear Carrier, 4-5 billion for
the latest spy plane. How much for a space shuttle?

yeah... but at $4-5 billion each, they probably won't build another shuttle,
especially if the Bush Administration pushes the creation of a new form of
transport. there's been talk for years that they were going to build a new
unit... plus, the Bush Administration has been talking about going back to
the moon, or to Mars.
building another shuttle (from scratch) would require re-tooling the shop
where these shuttles were built. that would not be cost-effective... even
for the government. i think we are just going to have to rely on 3
shuttles, with increased funding to a replacement or another project (which
is something the shuttle missions have been missing for a while).

Enterprise is just a non-working model. Maybe they can name the next working one that this time.

there are 3 shuttles (with 1 in mothballs): discovery, atlantis, and endeavour. there's also enterprise (but it has never been built beyond a glorified glider... but with a cost of $4-5 billion/shuttle... that Enterprise is looking really good right now.

This is complete tragedy.
Now with only one shuttle left, who would risk there lives in that one?
