With my 99 it was the bright din switch.

Took me awhile to find it but after I tracked it down a replacement switch
solved the problem (and a defective equipment ticket).
The headlamps would flicker and on occasion go out completely without
warning.
I was glad when I got fog lamps on that truck, though not legal as headlamps
they at least were some forward light,
and some assurance that I could have some light up there if and when the
headlamps went out again.
