 the synthetic Fuels that Germany made from their massive supplies of Coal
were NOT very good quality from what my father had told me of while he lived
in germany durring the war, however MOST non miletary trucks etc.. all ran
off wood vapor tanks that worked basically like making Charcoal, and the
fumes that were extracted were crudley piped to the engines... I guess they
only used liquid fuels to get them Started then switched over...

the other problem with the Coal based fuels probably would be emmisions...
