keep in mind that the Durango R/T is AWD. if you don't need the front-wheel
portion, look for a 5.9L 4x2. also, the 4.7L might be more economical in
that engine.

keep in mind that although the 4.7L has less power, you can modify that
engine with High-output Cams, and a High-output intake. there are more
performance parts available for that engine than there used to be, and i
imagine that they are being increased on a daily basis.

Mark, no personal experience but my sister and her husband rented an '02 Durango for a trip from Ohio to Montana and really liked it. Their daily drivers are a '96 Intrepid and a '99 Grand Cherokee.
