You know, I've heard that but haven't seen any evidence to back it up. Have
you had 10 heads magnafluxed? I've just had 4 used, stock magnum heads
magnafluxed for cracks and only one had a crack. It is small and on the
edge of one exhaust seat. The machine shop said it's easily repairable.
That head was off a high mileage van that died an ugly death due to lack of
maintenance. (the oil pickup was totally blocked by sludge) :-(

According to Hughes Engines, exhaust seat cracking is not uncommon but
typically causes no problem when it occurs while in use on your engine.

I hadn't heard about the R/T heads being less prone to cracking. Can you
point me to the documentation for that? Not that I'd use them anyway due to
the excess port volume and lack of velocity for a small engine. :-) I
would use them on a 408 though.
