Dan, most of the DML folks who have done home brew air intakes have Gen III
Daks that didn't come with as good a system as our Gen II Daks. If yours
still has the original air cleaner it should be round, metal, with a single
rectangular snorkel with a plastic tube that runs to the passenger side of
the radiator support. The filter is round and fits on top of the TB.
The tube/hose is about 3" ID and about 4" OD with rectangular ends where it
attaches to the air cleaner snorkel and the radiator support. Assuming you
have removed the splash shield, this is more than adequate for a mild 318.
I made my own dual intake by cutting the snorkel off another air cleaner and
attaching it to mine. I then ran 4" silver dryer ducting to the driver's
side of the radiator support where Dodge has conveniently provided another
blank that can be cut out to mimic the original on the passenger side. I
can post a picture this weekend. In the mean time, look here for the basic
idea... http://www.ramairbox.com/ It's a nice system but you can do your
own for far less money. I know a racer with a home brew exactly like mine
that is running low 12's with a 360, '93 Dak.
