I think we are talking about 2 subjects here:
First, the function the computer would have on the a/c. When the
computer senses either wide open throttle (WOT) or on some manufacturers
a drastic vacuum drop, it will cut out the electrical signal to the a/c
compressor clutch and the clutch will unlock, give HP back to the
engine. This will not, however, cause any difference in the amount of
volume of air blown inside the cab, nor which vent it blows out of.
2nd, I cant speak with knowledge about Gen III's, but on Gen II's
there was a small check valve, some black only, some white and black,
plumbed into the vacuum line going to the a/c-heater control head inside
the truck. Without vacuum applied, it would cause the vent door to stay
at the base position which would normally blow air out the top and
bottom, but not out the face of the dash. The valve was supposed to
retain vacuum during wot to keep the door from moving. Cheap/quick fix.
