You will need to check to see what warranty you have. When I
purchased my '96, 3/36 was the standard warranty, but I purchased
the 7/100 extended warranty. It sounds like the standard warranty
may have been increased from 3/36 to 7/70 from what other DMLers
are saying. If you are asking wether your warranty is 3/36 or 7/70
I can't help ya there. :-) You will need to check your documentation.
(Or you could call the dealer and they can probably check to see
what warranty you've got.)
However, I can tell you that if you do have a powertrain warranty
in effect (either standard or extended) the rearend is indeed covered;
there might be a deductible, the amount of which would depend on the
extended warranty plan you chose.
BTW, another thought which might be a remote possiblity... If
the repair is very expensive, you might want to check to see if
you can purchase a Chrysler extended warranty plan at the dealership
and have them cover this repair under it. The warranty would *probably*
be more expensive than the cost of the repair, but it may also
cover you for a few more years. Anyway, I don't even know if that
is possible, but it might be worth checking into.
Good luck!
