BTW: The A/C system will not illuminate the MIL. There's other codes
causing that.

Just looked at a '97 and '99 DTC code listing:

97 model doesn't show the P0545 but a '99 does.

You're truck was a '98 right?

Here's something to look into Gary....

P0645 Open or shorted condition detected in the A/C clutch relay control
circuit

AllData, OBDII.com, and my service manual (for a '98 Dakota V6) all show
this code to match the description, not P0545.

Did someone mistype or misread a number?

Ray,

As sam said before:
P0545 A/C Clutch Relay Circuit Problem detected in air conditioning
in
clutch relay control circuit.

At this point, I'm trusting sam on this because the guy who pulled the
code at AZ actually knew what he was doing (for once). He said it was a
manufacturers code. I also verified this with ron taylor. I'm just
hoping I can get this info out of the dealer before I authorize them to
do any work, so they don't pull a "oh, it was something else, so now its
double the cost" on me.

I know this one is gonna cost me. I'm already contemplating breaking
out the vasolene. :)
