Only one thing to add here (I think you covered the rest Jon :-).

We asked our dealer about getting a spray-in liner in our '98 when we leased
it. They warned us not to, unless we wanted to get hit with a huge "excess
wear" charge when we turned it back in. The only explanation they could
offer was some weak drivel about "but what if the next owner doesn't *want*
a spray-in liner? It might hurt our ability to re-sell it, and since it's a
permanent modification we can't remove it."

Of course, then they offered to sell us a lovely Mopar accessory drop-in
plastic liner. We said "no, thanks" and got that rubber bed mat from
Canadian Tire that's now sitting over Jon's drop-in to provide some slip
resistance :-).

Suffice to say that we committed to buying the 2001 when we had the bed
liner sprayed in :-).
