buying a 98 T & C and was wondering if anyone on the list has any experience
with one? Reliable? What to look out for? Gas mileage? Thanks in advance for
your replys. David.
If you're going to be buying one, make sure you get a warranty of some
description on it. My parents have a '98 Grand Caravan w/ the 3.3l six, and
it's a damn good thing they purchased the extended warranty. About a year
and a half ago, something in the transaxle let go, and cracked the tranny
case right open. Then, a year ago, a dull thumping started coming from the
bottom end. Let's just say "free rebuilt shortblock". All this occured
within about 6 months of the standard warranty's expiry. Oil changes were
done every 5000km, and the thing was driven by my mom, the most abuse would
be when we went on summer vacation, hauling 4 people and luggage over some
mountain passes.
