I've never had experience with egg's but i did have someone serane (SP?) wrap my doors shut on my old truck and it left little residue in the paint. The truck had a brand new 2 month old paint (black). From that point on the rain water always beaded in odd shapes matching the residue marks...
I'd probably use a good clay bar then wax like crazy to hopefully protect the paint...

Well, I took it to the carwash this morning, and hand washed it... it looks
like I got it in time, I just hope nothing shows up later on.
