"Dark spots" Dark is right. There is absolutely no cell service at the
bottom of the ravine.

And, for GPS fixes, the unit needs to receive from three satellites for a
general fix and four are needed for maximum resolution. There is no way to
get three satellites into the window of sky available in the ravine. My
guess is one, maybe two, tops.

Key phrase = "if you have good cell coverage". Even at the barn it can
get sketchy, and out on the trail I'm pretty sure there's some dark
spots, especially down by the stream.
