He's wrong....there is a way. While I don't condone this...I know of
several folks on the R/T list who do this.

A mechanic at my dealer's shop told me that Gen III models have a
circuit in
the engine computer that will not allow the engine to start if the
speedo
wiring is disconnected, defective, etc. Whether disconnecting will shut
the motor
off it's running when the disconnect is made he didn't know
