I was thinking about your coil not getting power and wished I had a
wiring diagram. I know that there is an ASD relay that will kill power
to the ignition system when it goes bad. This relay is in a box under
the hood, and it normally is the same relay used on other accessories,
such as an a/c relay. Find the ASD relay and switch it with another
relay for a system that will not be in use (hint-dont switch it with the
fuel pump relay!) I am used to seeing constant battery power on the
positive side of the coil with the ignition turned on, and the negative
side gets power across the coil when you crank the engine. However, the
computer may shut down power to the coil depending on other inputs it's
seeing also. The coil + is connected to the injectors and the ASD power
supply from the computer, so my best guess right now is possible bad ASD
relay.
