take a look at the durango ball joint thread, i gave the part numbers there.
i had gotten the numbers from moog (part of fegeral mogul) and had been able
to track them down thru parts stores here as a special order part until
recently. i called the other day and was told that the part was in the
system but they couldn't get a price on it (when i'd been previously told
that they were about $60/ea), so I called the techline and was told that
they hadn't even started manufacturing them as yet. The one that i did on
my truck in december is a Dana ball joint and seems to be holding up just
fine.
to test them you just have to lift the truck and check for play the same way
as you would do on a tierod end... wiggle it back and forth looking for
movement. if they move around it's time for replacements. The reason that
I've been through so many sets is because of the extensive autocross usage
that my truck gets.
