  Hi Adam,

  My lift is about 13' high. You would probably be safe with 14'
ceilings, or 15' if you wanted to play it really safe. Don't forget
to compensate for whatever you will be doing for flooring - measure
from where the top of the floor will be. Oh, one other thing,
in the area where you want the lift, you will probably want a
minimum thickness of 6" reinforced concrete, running out maybe 6'
wider than the base of the lift. Most floors are poured 4" thick,
but the lift needs more.

   Oh, as far as the ceilings go, you can also buy lower height
models - there are a few manufacturers that make lifts which will
fit under 9' ceilings or so.
