Actually if you look at the window stickers they aren't much different.
My point was that with my truck being many hundreds of pounds heavier
than Dan's, plus having the extra drag of 4x4, it gets 25% better gas
mileage under similar conditions - and that's a lot larger difference
than can be explained away by the engines.
If we want to get closer to Dan's truck, my '99 CC 4x4 with 3.55 gears,
318 and automatic, being heavier, taller and having the 4x4 drag,
*still* got 17MPG on the highway fairly consistently, and never saw
14MPG on the highway.
And I'm pretty sure Jon does much better than that with his '95 2WD.
Things for Dan to check:
Cap, rotor & plugs
O2 sensor
Clean fuel system (bottle of techron)
Proper tire pressures
Tonneau cover?
Carrying 500 pounds of lead in the bed?
