You can replace them with Grade-8 bolts (Home Depot brand are strong
enough).

If it sheared (shiny)...sounds like it was over torqued. If it's a
defect (crack within the material or flawed material)...they normally
will look dull and rough.

Can't say for sure what they were tightened to when the ProComps were
put
on. I'll be sure they're at 80 when we put a new bolt in.
The bolt did look like it had been wearing for some time. When a bolt

shears all at once, the cross section where it sheared is usually shiny,

right?(if you know what I mean). Only a small strip across the center
of
the cross section was shiny on the bolt that broke. It definitely
looked
like it had been wearing for a little while. Perhaps it wasn't tight
enough???
Thanks for the suggestion Bernd.

I've run the same shock bolts on my truck since day-one (still the
factory ones now) - ProComp ES9000's, KYB, and KYB MonoMax shocks (this
includes the swap from Fabtech to Hotchkis suspension).

Just curious: How tight are you setting the bolts? (Should be set at
80ft.lbs)

I know a few people have had problems with the lower front shot bolts
breaking on the ProComps. The front lower drivers side shock bolt just
broke today on my Dad's 97 4x4. It seems to me that Matt G. replaced
that bolt several times. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Will replacing the bolt with a grade eight solve things? Any first hand
experience would be great. I've got the same shocks on my 95 and am now

wondering if I should check those bolts on mine.
Thanks.
