Yeah, it's a shame how crappy Asbury Park has gotten since I was a
kid(remembers seeing Springstein at the Convention Center before he made
it big). Yeah, the SO is trying to keep the Victorian look of the
house(it's a 200yo 3 story French Victorian home with gingerbread
woodwork). Well we've decided to raze the old 1 car garage( a Sears
prefab from the mid20's-early 30's which is falling down), build a 2 1/2
car one as well as moving it up about 15-20 feet closer to the
street(bigger backyard). We are also gutting the interior and getting
rid of the lathe/plaster walls(it sucks having every several years
having to patch the walls and repaint since we are on a heavily traveled
road and the walls crack) with insulation/framing/sheetrock. Rewiring
the house(electrical/cable/CAT-5e ethernet), redoing the HVAC, the
windows. Also we are seriously considering putting solar panels up on
the flat roof for electricity with battery storage in the basement with
a cutout from public electric. In the basement I might be able to build
a small music studio! All sorts of fun stuff..
