Aaron, it's quite possible that one of the new generation Hemis will put out
that sort of HP at some point in some configuration, but the 5.7 is not
likely to be the one. There are variations in the pipeline that might get
there but in the mean time, I just don't see the cost/benefit being
favorable for putting a 5.7 in a Gen III Dak. Don't make the assumption that
cost/benefit is purely a monetary issue. It's much more than that.

Bottom line, if installing one gives you the satisfaction of 1)having done
it and 2)having something "different" then I wish you all the best. Have fun
with it. I'm not trying to slight your project, just putting some reality to
the expectations. You aren't going to tweak the computer on this new motor
and suddenly find 100 HP. That's just not in the cards.

Good luck.

Bob

Correct the 5.7L is an all new motor. but I also don't recall the 426
sharing much other than design with the 331, 354,392 Hemi either. The Hemi
has much potential, The people pushing them haven't let word out yet as to
just how much you can run it up to. In the next few years people could be
pushing the 5.7L to 600HP and staying streetable. Shouldn't sell the
concept and ideas short just because the old ways are cheaper and easier.
I've got everybody telling me to put a small block in my Dak; and I won't
simply on the pretense of I do not want to drive what everyone else has; I
want to do mine different. If I have to put a 3.9L Diesel, an 8.0L, or a
MPI 452 wedge.
Anything is possible, and the pricign varies with how hard you look, and how
creative you can get.
