Maybe it's just me; but, I got 100K+ miles on a set of Bosch 4417 plugs in
my '00 4.7L club cab. I still get 22+ MPG highway cruising at 65 MPH (if
you can do that in the Philly to Richmond metro area, it's all one area
now). My idle has been a little erratic since I installed a 70mm throttle a
few years ago ( between ~500 and ~900 rpm). I recently changed to Bosch
4418 plugs (125K miles) to see if there is any performance/mileage change;
too early to tell.

Maybe fine on your 5.2's, but everyone else was talking about 4.7's,
in which you're specifically not supposed to use platinum plugs.
