Bernd,
Not familiar with figuring out HP ratings since I fly sailplanes, but here
are a couple ideas for your friend. Don't know if they have a formula
persae, but check the AMA website (Academy of Model Aeronautics).

He could also check with a good local RC Club, or reputable hobby store that
has a working knowledge of power RC aircraft. Hope this helps.

Ok...I know there are a few of you on the list that play with Model (Gas
Powered) airplanes (and/or real ones).

One of the techs at work needs some help with figuring out the optimum HP
for his model airplane. Obviously, power-to-weight isn't going to work well
as there's drag coefficient, wind resistance, and other factors involved in
the air).

Does anyone know of a formula (or website) on how to figure out what HP
rating he should have for optimum aerobatics according to the
size/configuration of his plane?

Thanks,

- Bernd
