Hi Stebel
At the tip end of each leaf is a plastic bushing/insert. This is the
point at which each leaf contacts the one above it to support the vehicle.
Typically these last about 100k mi, but will deteriorate faster if you frequently
carry a lot of cargo load and/or a hefty trailer tongue weight.
MoPar carries replacement inserts, I think it is the same for each leaf
and side. Jack the vehicle from the body so that once the rear axle is off
the ground both springs are fully extended downward, this should give you
access to replace each insert. If not, then you can, with the truck in this
position, open the spring clamp which will definitely free up the leaves.
Never use lubricant on semi eliptical spring leaves to cure squeeking.
If they're squeeking then something is wrong and grease in any form only adds
another problem as it turns the spring into a grease junkie demanding another
"fix" of grease every 100 mi or so. If you've used a lot of grease to cure
your problem recently then before instering the new inserts I'd try and wipe
each leaf as clean as you can
