New Ford F-150 named Motor Trend Truck of the Year

(Detroit-AP) -- A vehicle that's key to Ford's turnaround
campaign has been named Motor Trend's 2004 Truck of the Year.
The redesigned Ford F-150 pickup beat out six other new or
revamped trucks.
The new F-150 was introduced in September, and executives with
the Number Two automaker have described it as the most important
new product for Ford since the Taurus helped the company emerge
from a sea of red ink in the late 1980s.
Ford's F-Series pickups are the best-selling vehicles in the
U-S, and they account for a-quarter of Ford's sales.
Motor Trend chooses its top vehicles based on value, standing in
their class and significant developments for 2004. The editor says
the new F-150 represents a huge step forward in pickup truck
design, styling and performance.
