That's the opening temperature of the thermostat. A 180 degree t'stat will
start to open at 180 and will be fully open by 185. (Same as a 160, 190,
200, 210 degree t'stat - most will always run 5 degrees hotter than opening
rating.)

If a thermostat is rated at 160, 180 , etc., what exactly does that mean?
It
begins to open at that specified temperature? Is 50% open by that specified

temperature? All the way open by that temperature? What?

just wondering
Andrew
