Look at the fuel quality and brand you're using first (yes, there's an
actual TSB on fuel index and quality for these engines). Try changing fuel
for one tank-ful and see what happens.

I was a busy individual this morning, afternoon, evening and night, ran a
can of the GM top end cleaner to clean up the combustion chambers, did the
intake gaskets at a casual pace, 180 'stat, and a set of 3923's. Pinging
has nearly gone away...nearly. Consistantly at WOT in 3rd I'll get some
ping still, from time to time in second as well. Not nearly what it was but
it's not gone entirely. This is on mid-grade (89 octane) gas as well. Does
this mean I might benefit from going another step cooler in plugs, and if so
would that be 3922 or 3924? Or should I try some premium first?
