with the hubs locked versus not, the mileage in our '87 460 F250 would
swing about 1.5MPG. that's about a 17% difference (it went over 10
twice in 87000 miles and 12 years). of course when the hubs were
locked there was also occasional 4x4 usage and the roads were sucking,
so there were other factors, but that's nontrivial.
