What little credibility the Assemblyman had quickly disappeared with
this line:

""Where does a passenger vehicle end and a truck begin?" Lafayette
asked. "Is a 10,000-pound Hummer a truck?""

For those keeping score, pickup trucks over 5,000 pounds dry weight must
be registered as commercial vehicles (and a price scale dictated by axle
count and GVWR). SUVs are registered as passenger cars, and any pickup
under 5,000 pounds dry may be registered that way as well.
