Use+4, be it amsoil, redline, or dealer...not the MobilOne +3

Subject: DML: Mobil 1 ATF+ and Mopar 9602 +4 (was:RedLine MTL in T-case???)

Mopar has used the designation 7176 for a long time for it's tranny fluid (I
believe even prior to the + designation). The new ATF+4 is designated as
9602.
I have heard conflicting stories as to whether this fluid is synthetic or
not.
Does anyone know? It seems if it was just a incremental improvement they
would
have stayed with the 7176 designation.

I am getting ready to change my 99 Dakota's tranny fluid and now that Mobil
1
has an ATF+ that is specifically to meet the mopar ATF+3 designation I am
torn
between using that and the 9602 ATF+4 fluid from the dealer. The owners
manual
recomends the +3 fluid but I have seen the TSB that states they recomend the
+4
now. Which is going to be a better fluid to use Mobil 1 ATF+ or the mopar
9602
+4?

I can get either for about $5/qt (my son works at the local dodge dealer and
can get me the 9602+4). Amsoil and Redline are also in consideration but
cost
much more and are not as readily available.
