On a new engine...there's really no need to run a 15w40 oil. A simple 10w30
(or in colder climates - 5w30) is more than plenty. Remember, new engine =
closer tolerances. Run a thicker oil and you risk starvation in the bearing
surfaces in colder areas (let alone on cold startup).

I have noticed more change than that just by switching oil brands and
weights... Some oil [delo 400 15w-40] gives me so much pressure it makes me
nervous, others [like M1 10w30] seem awful low on the scale.. Try going 2-3
oil changes with the same oil, it should be consistant...
