Maybe in some cases but not when you're a.) young and b.) male. They
really like to screw you over then.

Whatever the cost is to do the repair, you had better believe that they're
going to get that amount and some extra for "overhead" out of you during
the 3+ years that it sticks on your insurance record.

That becomes less of a problem once you're older and have more claim-free
time on the clock. Of course, that just means that you've "banked" the
extra $$$ with them.
