Gee, in my 30 years of working on cars I have never seen a bleeder on either a
caliper or wheel cylinder that was not near the top (when I say top that's when
they are mounted). If it wasn't, you wouldn't be able to get the air out.

On my 99 Dakota 4x4 the bleeders are at the top and the hose is attached at the
back of the caliber (3 & 9 o'clock when viewed from the side). And to make sure
I just walked out to my truck in the parking lot and checked.

If you have the bleeders at the bottom then the calipers are mounted on the
wrong side. Also, sounds like the caliper that is being ordered is either for
the wrong side or they got missed marked for the side they are to be mounted
on.
