It probably works just as well as the magnet that goes on the fuel line
to "break up the gasoline molecules" and that sticker "in-tenna" that
you slap on your cell phone.
My guess is gimmick, anything small enough to pass through the oil
filter is probably: 1) not worth stopping and 2) not going to be
stopped, even by a high-power magnet, because it's flowing too fast
through the filter.
I think you'd be better off with one of those big magnets that sticks to
the flat surface on the bottom of the motor oil and transmission oil
pans... a few thousand miles before the engine went on my old cadillac I
spotted bits and pieces on the magnetic drain plug maybe w/ a bigger
magnet it would have lasted another couple of months :)
