It's over $41 (not trying to nitpick), and refining costs have increased
dramatically as refineries are saddled with increasing regulations, and they
also have to make many different formulations for local EPA regs.
To top it off, refineries in the US are running at about 98% capacity-they
can't make any more, and they sell all they make.
Increasing the oil supply won't help, either-they wouldn't be able to refine
it.

Remember during a time in the mid to late 90s gas in some cities was well
over $2 a gallon? The price of crude was nowhere near $40/bbl.

Did you know only two refineries-one owned by Sunoco and one by
Conoco/Phillips make racing fuel? All other brands of racing fuel comes from
those two refineries and then the additive packages are added by the various
marketers, such as Turbo Blue, who buys the base product from Sunoco.
Got that from a friend who is a P66 distributor.
